Been having issue for more than a year. When my provider (Charter cable with static ip) drops my internet connection I have to start "at the wall" meaning reboot cable modem then wireless router then reboot laptop to reconnect to internet. Takes 1/2 hour. Charter seems to be dropping internet more and more so this can happen once per week or sometimes every day or 3.
Have narrowed it down to this. With internet working just fine. Can use wireless from phone to surf web. Can even enable wireless adapter on laptop and connect to internet via wireless.
So internet is not the issue. I very seldom use wireless and instead use my ethernet connection. I keep wireless adapter disabled.
Very simply, internet is working. I am using ethernet connection. All is good. Simply unplug ethernet cable from laptop then reconnect ethernet cable. I have no internet until I reboot my laptop. Reboot works fine but getting tired of having to do so every time Charter drops my internet.

It came with Windows 7 Home Prem OA installed but at purchase I upgraded it to Win 7 Pro 64 BIT.
It is a HP Pavilion dv7 with 6GB Memory
