Greetings @Nezico

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you have installed the latest wireless driver and the wireless adapter is missing in device manager.

You have also tried a refresh and you were prompted saying that some files are missing, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Is your computer booting to the desktop?

Based on the specifications of your computer, your computer came with FreeDos 2.0. Click here

If your computer is booting to the desktop and able to access the internet over ethernet.

Request you download and install Hardware diagnostics from this link

Once you have installed Hardware diagnostics, shut down the computer.

Wait for a minute.

Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup to enter system diagnostics.

Select the component test in Hardware diagnostics and run a wireless module test on your computer. Click here for assistance.

If the test fails, please contact our phone support to check on the service options available to replace the wireless card.

If the test passes, restart your computer.

Download and install the generic driver from this link and check if it resolves the issue.

To get the network icon back on the taskbar.

Right-click on the Windows button.

Select Control panel.

On the Control panel Window. (On the right side top of the control panel, click on View by category and change it to small or large icons)

Select notification icons.

On the bottom of the notifications window, you will have an option to change System icons on or off.

There you have an option to Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

Enable network icon there.

Alternately, open network and sharing center by doing right-click on the network icon the taskbar.

On the network and sharing center screen, select the option on the left - change adapter settings.

This would display the network adapters on the computer.

Right-click on the wireless adapter and check if it is enabled and try to connect to your network.

You can also run the network troubleshooter available in the control panel.

Let me know how it goes.

. . . . . .

I tried to download the driver from the link that you gave . . . but don't know why its not downloading just stuck on retrying and retrying again . . . can you give me the link to download wireless network driver that is compatible and supported for my laptop ?

Haha 😂 you are funny . . . network icon is not missing, its the WiFi icon that is missing . . . I tried troubleshooting but it does not detect problems regarding WiFi . . . .

Sometimes it gets fixed after scanning with antivirus and reinstalling the driver again but not all time . . . it gets dissapear again . . .

Still my problem is unsolved 😢

Thanks for the reply and trying the suggested steps. Wireless module check not installed, indicates that is a hardware issue with the wireless card.

Please click here for the service guide of your computer.

Refer to page number 51 and reseat the wireless card and check.

Try a different browser to download and install the driver. Click here to download the driver.

If the issue persists, recommend you contact our phone support to check on the service options available to replace the Wireless module.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for replying back . . . do I really have to this hardware thing . . . if it is then may be I'll have to go to repairing shop for this . . . as I have not tried hardware things and I have no necessary tools for this . . . but I'd love to learn someday, thanks for the service guide . . .

But before that I'll try to system restore . . . and see what result I get . . . and after that might try installation tools to upgrade . . . whether it help or not . . . I'll let you know the result later . . .

If it doesn't work . . . I'll go to the repairing shop ☺ he he 😁 this WiFi is really important for me as a gamer . . . I play dota 2 he he 😁😂

Thanks for the reply, uninstall the wireless adapter and install the driver from the link, it is a generic driver which works well.

If it does not help, you can try a system restore and check as well.

Keep me posted.
