Welcome to the HP Community --

There are several steps to connect a SIM card to your subscribed Mobile Broadband Carrier.

Steps

  • Check that your computer includes the necessary WWAN mobile broadband module - Service Guide
  • Check that the driver installed is a match to the current driver offered in Software and Drivers
  • Install an active, subscribed SIM card in the SIM card slot in your system -- NOTE >> SIM card is installed inside the case in some workstations - check your service guide.
  • Open Settings > Network & internet (path varies by OS version) > Open the section to switch on the SIM card

Details

The first step is to find your system product name / exact model name.

Search list results:  Results for "hp elitebook G3" (12)

OR

 HP Product Home

 Enter the device type and model name of your HP product

==================================================

Open the Device Home Website for your system.

Open Category Setup and User Guides

After that, find and open the Maintenance and Service Guide

Search the document for information on the WWAN module.

Note that some systems locate the SIM card slot inside the case -- If your are unsure of the location of the SIM card slot, search the guide for "SIM"

Next,

Check the Device Manager to determine whether your computer has the WWAN hardware installed.

If yes, check the Driver version

If yes, open your computer Category Software and Drivers >

    Expand the entire Driver list

    Search the Network category for the mobile broadband driver - check the version

    If the driver is newer than the driver on your computer, download / save / install the newer driver

Examples

=================================

Example -

Device Manager - WWAN Network / Driver check

Settings > Network & internet

Next,

Use the Device Manager to find / display information about an installed WWAN module.

Example – Control Panel access to Device Manager

Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager

Tab View

Select View by action types

Check Show hidden devices

Select Drivers by type

Expand section Network Adapters

Find LT / LTE in list

    NOTE >> Device names vary and might be different from the example...

Right-Click on the module > Properties

Tab Driver

Compare Driver version to the driver listed in system's support page Category Software and Drivers

The driver category is perhaps "Driver-Network"

The name of the driver might include "WWAN"

=============================================

Use Settings > Network & internet to display information about an installed SIM card.

The SIM card, when connected to an active mobile account, works with the WWAN hardware module to connect your computer to your mobile network carrier.
