HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer that will not connect to my network. Do I need to update the driver in the printer to work with my Windows 11 labtop? If you could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @noble900,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer is not connecting to your network, updating the printer driver and ensuring compatibility with your Windows 11 laptop might be a good troubleshooting step. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Windows 11 laptop.
  • Verify that there are no connectivity issues with the network itself.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and Windows 11 laptop. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer. You can usually find this information on the HP support website.
  • Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the firmware.

Update Printer Driver:

  • Go to the official HP support website (support.hp.com).
  • Enter your printer model (Officejet Pro 8620) and navigate to the "Software and Drivers" section.
  • Download the latest driver for your printer model and install it on your Windows 11 laptop.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 laptop has all the latest updates installed. Sometimes, updates can include drivers and improvements for device compatibility.

Check Network Settings:

  • Verify that your Wi-Fi network is functioning correctly.
  • Ensure that your Windows 11 laptop is connected to the same network as the printer.

Reconfigure Wi-Fi Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the wireless settings and re-enter the Wi-Fi network credentials.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your firewall or antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking the printer's connection.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can automatically diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. You can download it from the HP support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
