Hi @jna4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Install replacement ink cartridges

Install a new cartridge in an HP DeskJet, ENVY 6000, or 6400 printer.

Make sure paper is loaded into the input tray, and then turn on the printer.

Lift the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.

Lifting the ink cartridge access door

The ink carriage moves to the left.

Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.

Lift the cartridge latch on the cartridge you want to replace, and then remove it from its slot.

Removing the ink cartridges

Set the old cartridge aside, and then remove the new cartridge from the package.

CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles, or reapply the protective tape. Touching these areas can result in an ink system failure.
