HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M3AV)

Every few minutes my laptop disconnects from the internet. No other devices in my house have this issue and I even changed wifi providers. As a student this is challenging because I get kicked out of exams. I have upated my drivers and cannot seem to figure out the issue. The laptop is 1 year old and has been used solely for homework.

@rgirten327, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand how frustrating it is to deal with Wi-Fi disconnections, especially during exams. Your HP 15-fc0000 laptop disconnects from Wi-Fi every few minutes, while other devices on the same network work fine. You've already updated drivers and changed providers, but the issue persists. Let’s work through this together.

Check Power Management Settings

Sometimes Windows disables the Wi-Fi adapter to save power.

  • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager
  • Expand Network adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Realtek or MediaTek) → Properties
  • Go to the Power Management tab
  • Uncheck: "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
  • Click OK

Disable Wi-Fi Adapter Power Saving in Advanced Settings

  • Go to Control PanelPower Options
  • Click Change plan settings next to your active plan
  • Click Change advanced power settings
  • Expand Wireless Adapter SettingsPower Saving Mode
  • Set both On battery and Plugged in to Maximum Performance
  • Apply and restart

Reinstall the Wi-Fi Driver (Clean Install)

Even if updated, a clean reinstall can fix corruption.

  • Go to Device Manager → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Uninstall device
  • Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available
  • Restart your laptop
  • Download the latest driver from HP: Official HP® Support

Choose the correct driver based on your adapter (Realtek or MediaTek).

Reset Network Settings

This clears any misconfigurations.

  • Open SettingsNetwork & InternetStatus
  • Scroll down and click Network reset
  • Restart your laptop

Check for BIOS Update

Sometimes BIOS updates improve hardware stability.

  • Visit: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your product: HP 15-fc0000
  • Download and install the latest BIOS version (if available)

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware faults:

  • Press Esc during startup → choose F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
  • Run Network Test

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
