Hi @jamedw1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that your HP 8015 printer isn't working after a power loss. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get it back up and running.
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check the Power Source
- Ensure the power outlet is working. You can test it by plugging in another device.
- If you're using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the printer directly into the wall outlet.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and disconnect any cables (USB, Ethernet, etc.).
- Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.
- If the printer powers up, reconnect other cables one by one.
Check for Error Messages
- Look at the printer’s display panel for any error messages or codes.
- Refer to the printer manual or HP support website to interpret any error codes and take appropriate action.
Update Printer Firmware
- Check if the printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware issues can cause the printer to malfunction.
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your printer model to find and install the latest firmware.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer.
- Download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check Network Connection (if applicable)
- If you are using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the network.
- Restart your router and reconnect the printer to the network.
- Print a network configuration page to ensure the printer has a valid IP address.
Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
- Turn the printer on if it doesn't turn on automatically.
Check for Hardware Issues
- Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
- Check if any cartridges are missing or not installed correctly.
Factory Reset (as a last resort)
- Navigate to the Setup menu on the printer.
- Look for Reset or Restore Settings.
- Perform a factory reset, but be aware this will remove any custom settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
