Hi! @chongDaimai, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that you are unable to connect to your wireless network.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Please try the steps mentioned below.

Power cycle the network:
1. Shut down your notebook.
2. Unplug the power to your router.
3. Unplug the power to your modem.
4. Wait at least 45 seconds.
5. Plug in the modem, and wait for it to come back online.
6. Plug in the router, and wait for it to come back online.
7. Turn on your notebook, and test your connection.

Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:
1. Open Device Manager. (Win Key+R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. Expand the Network adapters.
3. Right click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and click Properties.
4. Click the Power Management tab.
5. Remove the check mark beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
7. Test.

Also, refer this document to troubleshoot the wireless network.

Let me know if this works!

Have a beautiful day ahead! :)

Hi @chongDaimai,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I would suggest you contact your ISP or the router manufacturer for re-configuring the router settings, as changing the mac filtering on the router should help you to resolve this issue.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,

Re: my laptop wifi cannot connect to wifi router modem whereas can work perfectly on smartphoneHOTSP

So i have to go around fixing wifi router in every resturant n every hotel that i go ? Just fix it in my laptop.. n troubleshooting network adapter, updating wifi driver, doesn't work... maybe it is because HP is too weak to handle a new windows 10 update....

Hi @chongDaimai,

I understand you have tried the steps and still having the issue, don't worry let's try these steps here, which should help to resolve the issue:

Before proceeding with these steps, create a Restore Point.

- Open Control Panel, change the view to Small Icons, then select "Recovery".
- After creating a Restore Point, open Device Manager.
- Open the "Network Adapter" list, and find the WiFi adapter.
- Right Click the driver, and select "Disable“ and “Re-Enable”
- Check if Wifi connects. If not, continue with the steps below.
- Open CMD as Admin:  Copy the following commands, and press enters after each one.

-

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

netsh int tcp show global  (Check if All settings have taken effect)

Reboot the system and see if it works.

STEP# 6 of Wireless Troubleshooting: Screenshots of how the commands should show and be entered.

Please follow the steps from this link.

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Re: my laptop wifi cannot connect to wifi router modem whereas can work perfectly on smartphoneHOTSP

Hi @chongDaimai,

Thanks for getting back to us,

As I understand you have tried the steps suggested and nothing has helped to resolve this issue.

Before we could confirm this to be a hardware failure, I would suggest you perform a System recovery which will set the PC back to the original factory conditions. So please remember to backup all your important data before running recovery.

Link to perform System recovery: Click here

For some reason, if the recovery fails, this means either the partition is corrupted or system file is missing.

The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Keep me posted for any other assistance,
