Hi @yolando,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your recently bought HP Chromebook is not detecting your Xbox controller for pairing. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this:

Check controller compatibility
Ensure your Xbox controller supports Bluetooth. Older Xbox controllers only work via USB or the Xbox Wireless Adapter.

Enable Bluetooth on your Chromebook
Go to Settings → Bluetooth and make sure it is turned on.
The Chromebook must be discoverable to pair new devices.

Put the Xbox controller in pairing mode
Press and hold the pairing button on the top of the controller until the Xbox button starts flashing.
This indicates it’s in Bluetooth pairing mode.

Search for the controller on your Chromebook
In the Chromebook Bluetooth menu, click Pair new device.
Wait a few moments for the controller to appear in the list.

Restart both devices
Power off the Chromebook and the controller, then turn them back on and try pairing again.

Update Chromebook OS
Make sure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS.
Updates can fix Bluetooth connectivity issues.

Try wired connection if Bluetooth fails
Connect the Xbox controller with a USB-C or USB-A cable to see if the Chromebook recognizes it.

I hope this helps.
