Hi @mvb25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Does the Wi‑Fi icon in the taskbar show a red “X” or does it look normal but just won’t connect?

Did this start after entering the wrong password several times, or was Wi‑Fi already unstable before that?

Are other devices in your home able to connect to the same Wi‑Fi network without issues?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  •  Toggle Wi‑Fi: Press Fn + F12 (or the key with the Wi‑Fi symbol) to make sure the wireless adapter isn’t disabled.
  •  Network reset: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset to clear old settings and start fresh.
  •  Update drivers: Visit HP’s support page for your laptop model and install the latest wireless LAN drivers.
  •  Device Manager check: Open Device Manager, expand Network adapters, and confirm the Wi‑Fi adapter is enabled. If it shows a warning icon, right‑click and update or reinstall the driver.
  •  Router restart: Restart your router to rule out a network issue.
  •  Forget and reconnect: In Wi‑Fi settings, “Forget” the network, then reconnect by entering the correct password.

I hope this helps

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!

Thanks all your effort. I contacted techs at Best Buy and they said it was the drivers and to bring this new pc to the store. I am currently waiting for the start up to finish, Yes, it was several failed attempts to connect to wifi. I finally looked at the sticker! I will be back if I have problems in the future. You are great help.

Back to the same problem screen again. The pc had finished the 3 updates and then lost the internet.

The problem screen is back. I already tried the fn+f12 with no change. I tried turning it off and after the two questions about country and keyboard I am back to the screen. I also unplugged router and

Large blue internet symbol on left

Upper right side wi-fit turned off

Bottom says trouble getting connected?

Earlier I was successful with password.

Now what do I do?

I can only try the fn+f12 - no access to any of the info to try your list of suggestions
