Solved!

upgrading wifi to receive 5GHz band

HP Recommended
pavilion notebook i5-p200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My pavilion notebook i5-p200 has a Broadcom BCM 43142 802.11 bgn wifi adaptor.

Is it possible for me to replace this with an adaptor to receive both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands?

MOR71EA#ABU is invalid. I think it is M0R71EA#ABU (zero, not letter o).  Your machine is an HP Pavilion 15-p200na. I can't find its Official specs. The series supports

  • Realtek RT8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter, for use only on computer models equipped with Intel processors for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC computer models part # 709848-005
  • Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 HMC combo adapter, for use only on computer models equipped with Intel processors for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC computer models available for Windows 10 part # 753076-005
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 combo adapter, for use only on computer models equipped with Intel processors for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC computer models part # 710662-005
  • Realtek RT8723BE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter for HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
computer models available for Windows 10 part # 753077-005
  • RTL8188EE 802.11BGN 1x1 available for Windows 10 part # 709848-005
  • Broadcom BCM 4352 WLAN 802.11 AC+BT4 2x2 HMC for HP Pavilion 15 AMD computer models available
    for Windows 10 part # 724935-005
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 part # 784638-005

The ones in red support 5GHz but the Broadcom requires 2 antenna and your machine only has one.

Regards.

Thank you for your support and efforts Banhien.

Based on that information I'll use a plug in dongle for the 5 GHz band when the 2.4 GHz isn't up to it.

Cheers

Phil
