OK, I'm at a loss at what to look for in a replacement board, or to find compatability.    I want to upgrade my wifi board from the 2.4Ghz to the 5Ghz for increased speed.  Can somebody assist?  Did I provide enough information on my laptop to find a board?

   Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP Notebook - 17z-p000 series laptop. I read that you would like to upgrade the wifi card to  5GHz.

I did some research on this case and found service guide for the laptop. As per the user guide, there are only two wireless cards that are tested by HP and supported by this laptop model.

  • Part# 709848-005 - Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter.
  • Part# 753077-005 - Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter.

There are third party 5GHz wireless cards available and they may or may not work with the laptop.

Hope this answers your questions. Keep me posted for any further questions. Take care! 🙂
