HP Pavilion Laptop PC 14-dv0000 (9WL72AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my laptop is new and it's around 2 months old. i formatted the laptop and i clean installed windows 10 build 21h2

if the laptop is connected to the electricity then the wifi is always stable and there are no issues. however if the laptop is running on the battery then the wifi cuts after like 30min to 1hour. i am browsing the internet when the wifi cuts and the web pages stop loading and an error message shows. the wifi icon is still showing in the task bar when the web pages stop loading and then it goes away and the no wifi globe icon shows. if i connect the laptop to the electricity after the wifi cuts then the wifi reconnects on its own and the wifi icon comes back. this problem is there since i first started using the laptop

i have already said dont allow windows to switch off the device in the power management of the wifi driver:-

driver.jpg

also i have already said maximum performance for the wifi adapter in the advanced power plan:-

power.jpg

however, the wifi is still cutting when the laptop is running on the battery. i am unable to update the wifi driver because there are no new drivers for my wifi adapter

i want to know why is the wifi cutting when the laptop is running on the battery? is it because of a windows bug or the wifi adapter is bad? is there something that i can do in windows to stop the issue from happening?

if i buy a wifi usb plug and i plug it in the usb port then will this fix the issue and the wifi will stop cutting when the laptop is running on the battery?

I had the same issue with a laptop purchased in november, returned it and was given a replacement, then the same thing happened again, hp requested me send it in to get "fixed" was returned after being reset, same thing happened again, returned it to be "fixed" again, hp were very clear in their report that they were able to play youtube for 5 hours "PERFECTLY" so therefore problem was fixed. Ah, no, same thing is happening again! Pretty sure they must have had the laptop plugged in to power for it to be able to stay connected for 5 hours straight.

I don't have the option to choose to uncheck the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” as my properties don't show the Power Management tab, so I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

try https://danantonielli.com/missing-device-power-management-options-fix/ to enable the power management in the device manager

also please buy a usb wifi dongle and connect it to your laptop and use it instead of the wifi adapter of the laptop. i was told that the wifi cutting issue when the laptop is running on the battery wont affect the usb wifi dongle, let me know what happens with you when you use a usb wifi dongle

Hi@cns000, @GE3005

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing Wi-Fi issues with the HP Laptop PC when running on battery.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Check with any other Wifi networks
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try with doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
