My wifi was working just fine until I woke up this morning and now it's nowhere to be found. My laptop will only work on a ethernet cable. I've gone through multiple forums on this website and haven't found any solutions. My wireless adapter is not under my network adapters when I open device manager. The only thing listed is my ethernet connection and WAN ports. I have already tried restarting everything, restoring my computer, uninstalling and updating the drivers, putting it into BIO mode to reset to default settings..Everything else in my home connects to my wifi just fine

Thanks for any help

Hi:

That doesn't sound good.  Could be the wifi adapter failed.

See if this gets the adapter to show up again...

Go to the device manager.  At the top of the device manager window, click on the View tab, and check the 'Show hidden devices' option.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category and see if it shows the Realtek wifi card in faint view.

If it does, right click on that, select Uninstall, check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC and see if windows reinstalls the device so it is listed as normal under the network adapters device manager category.

If it doesn't then you can pretty much assume the card died on you and needs to be replaced.

If you have to replace the card, I would get this one instead.

HP sells it for $67.00 but you can get it for much less on eBay.

Here is the link to the service manual.  The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.
