My laptop is fairly new. It does not automatically connect to WiFi when computer starts up. When run trouble shooter, it starts working. Appears that all drivers are updated and WiFi is not password protected and works fine with all other devices in house (including old, old HP laptop).

Hi
So if you ran
ipconfig -all >> c:\pret.txt
as administrator from a command line before the trouble shooter was used,
and then when the trouble shooter has completed and a connection is made run....
ipconfig -all >> c:\post.txt
You would then have 2 text files of settings that could be compared and maybe adjustments made.
Personally I would open up something like LibreOffice, set the page to landscape, make a 2 wide 1 deep table, and then copy the text files from NotePad into my document side by side for easier evaluation.
