1TB SATA or IDE compatible with HP mini 1104 for hard disk upgrade

HP 1104
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I recently checked in the HP website is possible to upgrade hard drives. I would like to change my HP mini 1104 laptop for 1TB hard drive because the original one is practically full and I believe this is the best option. I tried to contact HP store parts sellers and they mention I need to check if the conexion is SATA or IDE. I have not idea and I am not intending to open the laptop as yet. I also tried HP store email and somebody wrote me this:

HP Mini 1104 (ENERGY STAR) (A7K66UT), the PC supports the following hard drives:

  • 320 GB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 and 7.0 mm
    • 250 GB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 and 7.0mm
    • This have confused me because I saw in amazon they have 1TB for my model and the photo says it is SATA
      TSM 2.5 LAPTOP HARD DISK DRIVE FOR HP MINI 110-1000 110-1100 110-1200 110-3000 110-3100 210-1000 1104 1tb
    • I have therefore 2 questions: 1) is it or not possible to upgrade to 1TB or if not what is the biggest one I can use to upgrade the hard drive. 2) it should be SATA or IDE
    • I would also appreciate any suggestions and recommendation for the  hard drive upgrade. I have my recovery disks which I will try to use and if they do not run I have the HP manufacture for the windows and drivers.
    • Thanks for your kind information and recommendations in advance

Thanks for you kind and promtp response which means to much to me. I am glad to know may I upgrade my hardrive for a bigger one. Regarding the same subject can you please advise me about what you think about few things standing about my previous message:

1) Is it better if I run the new hard drive from my recovery disks OR SHOULD I DO FROM THE MANUFACTURE DISKS (there are 3 including the drivers) ?

2) I n the event the recovery disks fail may I still try from the recovery disks?

3) Can you please tell me if these specification from the 1TB SATA hard drive will be compatible with my HP mini 1104:

Laptop Hard Drive:  1TB - internal - 2.5 inch - 9.5mm - SATA - 5400 rpm - buffer 8MB

Hi,

I would buy faster HDD such as 7200RPM and 32MB of CACHE. The physical size is ok.

You can use one of both, they should be ending up the same but the Recovery set could be simpler.

Regards.

Thanks. It is harder to find one of your suggested features. If you do not mind the question: is it OK to use a compatible hard drive?

I still do not know if could be the best to use the HP manufacture or my recovery disks. Please, can you kindly answer this question?.

Is it truth if I consider this hard drive with 7200 RPM can generate more heat? I read somebody use it in another model of laptop (no HP) and the battery life reduce in near 3 hours. Is this possible. I mean changing the RPM can alter the batery life?
