AccelerometerSt.exe - Application Error

AccelerometerSt.exe - Application Error

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

This happened after trying to install the windows 8.1 update and my computer went to a black screen. It was in that state for quite some time and I had to go so I shut it down. The next time I turned it on, the update had already completed and I had windows 8.1. Everything works fine except for this error message that pops up every time I turn my laptop on. I have no idea what it does but it annoys the hell out of me when it comes up. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

AccelerometerSt.exe - Application Error

Hi:

Without knowing the full model number of your notebook, there isn't much I can do to help you other than to tell you that there is a problem with the ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection driver.

AccelerometerSt.exe - Application Error

Try reinstalling this driver as this is the one that is causing the error.

If that doesn't fix the problem, unfortunately, I wouldn't know what else it could be.

In the uninstall programs menu, is the 3D driveguard program listed?

If so you can try uninstalling it, reboot and then reinstall the program.

The problem is definitely with that driver because what the accelerometer does is to have the 3D driveguard program park the hard drive heads in the event of bumping or dropping the notebook from a low height.

Unfortunately, I have only had the 3D drivegard or ProtectSmart driver install and work, so I do not know what you need to do to clear that error, since reinstalling the driver didn't work.
