BIOS Greyed out

Pavilion Elite m9080n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Pavilion Elite m9080n with an Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 with Asus MB that I am looking to overclock.  When i enter the BIOS, AMI v5.13, CPU information is greyed out.  Anyone know how to work on overclocking this PC?  Thanks

As I understand the BIOS Greyed out, Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you,

According to your product specification, I see that the PC was shipped with Windows Vista and if you could look for BIOS updates on HP website under Vista OS you should be able to download and install the latest available BIOS updates that may resolve your issue.

@safetyrob

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

BIOS updates are not specific to windows operating systems and hence should work regardless the one installed,

If the issue persists, you might want to reset the bios using this link: Click here

@safetyrob

Thank you for the replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Perhaps, you could tell me what is it exactly you want BIOS for?

Also, which part of BIOS is "grayed out"?

If you're unable to access BIOS though you've done all the above steps, the only other option is to flash the BIOS manually and HP recommends it be done at a repair center, hence contact HP for the same:

If it's only the advanced options under BIOS, it's locked by HP as the product is pre-configured to its optimal performance and HP Doesn't recommend changing them.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

I would like to get into the advanced BIOS to overclock the CPU.  The CPU is not running as fast as it could be.

@safetyrob

Thank you for the update,

As I mentioned earlier, that feature is locked - refer to a related HP Forums post for details: Click here

For increasing the performance or if you feel that your computer is running slow, perhaps you could check this link (Click here) to increase performance by other/alternate ways.

Keep me posted,

Good Luck.

So the only way to overclock the CPU is to rebuild the board and update the BIOS?

Thank you for replying,

I'm afraid that's true although that isn't recommended by HP as it voids the warranty,

And you may do it at your own discretion.

Let me know if there's something else I can help you with,

Have a good day ahead.
