BIOS update trouble

HP 2000-2d22DX Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On the support page for updating the BIOS (at http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629, under the section on starting if Windows cannot start) I am told I can find an update by  entering my product number at the HP Software & Driver Downloads webpage. However when I do this I get the message "We were unable to find any drivers for your product." Is there any other way for me to update the BIOS?

Sorry, but at this point in time, NO.

There is a popup shown when you login to the forums indicating that HP is working on restoring the forum's driver and software pages.  Until that is done, there is no way to download drivers, software, or BIOS updates.

They have not provided any date by which we can expect this to be done.

All you can do at this point, is continue checking back to see if the drivers page has been restored.

BIOS update trouble

It looks like the drivers have been posted now - however, I can only find the bios update for Windows 8. Is it safe for me to use this update given that I have Windows 10?

If I have to have Windows 8 for this is there any way for me to revert to Windows 8 if I can't enter Windows at all?

BIOS update trouble

HP has a policy of making their BIOS updates OS-version-specific.

So, I would be VERY surprised if you can even get the Win8 BIOS update to run in Win10!

Regarding reverting to Win8, while Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!

If that is not bad enough, the Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine. This pretty much guarantees that no built-in HP Recovery function is going to work.

What MIGHT work is using HP Recovery Media -- but that would remove everything from the hard drive and reset the PC to the state it was in when you first started it -- so it's not really a way to revert back to the Win8 setup you were using.
