Bad battery or worse

hp g7-2269wm
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I am having a problem with the Laptop An hp g7-2269. it does not boot up with the battery in and it will not charge the battery. It will however boot up and be fully functional if i remove the battery and plug in ac adapter. i can however replace the battery when it is running and it runs fine but still doesnt charge. uefi diagnostics battery test freezes when i try to run it so i get no information there. and the hp software battery tells me nothing either it just says that the battery or the charging adapter could be bad or to take in to see a hp specialist. my question then is can it be possible that its just a bad battery?

Bad battery or worse

@jawlessemu

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I understand that you are having issues with the battery on your laptop.

I’d love to help!

As you mentioned that the computer works fine without the battery, there are two possibilities.

1.    The battery might have gone bad.

2.    There may be an issue with the battery connector on the laptop itself.

Based on my experience I suggest you change the battery and check, am positive it should resolve the problem. In case if you are having issues even after changing the battery then it is an issue with the connector and you need to get the laptop repaired.

Hope that answers your question.

If any other questions arise, please feel free to write back to me.

Take care. Cheers!
