So I have had to purchase a new battery as mine has finally given up the ghost. I bought a HP replacement part (not from HP as they do not seem to sell them anymore even though my Laptop is only 2yrs old) and looked up how to calibrate the battery. I used the following link and did everything it said.

However I have now done this 6 times and the HP Battery Monitor is still saying that the battery needs to be calibrated (see below)
Not only this, but it takes forever to charge up to 100%. If I leave it turned off and plugged in, the charge % goes up very, very slowly and quicker (still slow) when it is turned on.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have a new battery with issues.
Run a battery check from the HP Support Assistant and post your results here in your thread.

Unfortunately we will have to wait a while to view the image you posted.
I have never had a battery that I purchased from a third party trigger a calibration required message.
It must be approved by a Moderator before it becomes visible.

That is a good result. Your battery is OK.
ll the calibration procedure does is set the 100% mark to match the actual capacity of the battery. It is worthwhile to run the calibration once every few months. You can safely ignore the calibration required message.
I will revisit this thread after I take a look at the software available for your notebook. It would help greatly if you remove your battery and look at the product name or product number printed inside the compartment where the battery is normally located. Post that product name or product number here in your thread.
If your notebook is recent enough and has the UEFI environment install it would be worthwhile to install the latest UEFI update and HP Support Assistant update. The problem you are seeing could be a software bug, although it is unconsequential..

I have a quite simmilar problem. My battery is 5 years old, but I didn't used it too much.
My laptop can only run about 20 mins from a battery. The battery indicator for some reason is not working (but is used to work earlier). When says that my battery is fully charged, I dissconect AC adapter. Then it show 100%. After about 10 mins it immediatelly drops to 0%, but my computer is still working for another 10 mins at 0%.
I have downloaded HP Support Assistan ant checked the battery status. It showed me, that I need to calibrate.
I have tried to calibrate the bttery over 8 times, and HP Battery Check still says that I need to calibrate it.
I don't know what to do. Plese, help.
My computer is HP Compaq nw8240 Mobile Workstation and I'm using HP HSTNN-CB50 (8-cells) battery.
I can't upload a screen shot (IO Error) so I write what HP Battery Check says:

Well based on the data provided it looks like the battery has finally died after 5 years so yes a replacement battery should be considered. It happens because when a battery is left uncharged for a long time it causes the capacity of the battery to go down the toilet which starts the day the battery is made. Batterys do not like to be fully charged during storage because like I said before the battery loses it's capacity more rapidly.
