Battery is draining fast

HELP PLEASE!

My HP laptop is only about 1 year old and my battery has been draining faster than usual. It has only been lasting a max of just under 2 hours and one of my friends has the exact same laptop and hers is lasting up to 10 hours and it is the same age as well. I used the HP Assistant and it said the battery was fine. What is the problem and how can it be fixed?

Battery is draining fast

Hi @SR17, Greetings!

Thank you for joining HP support forums, I would like to help 🙂  I understand that the computer's battery drains faster than normal. Brilliant work on checking with HP support assistant. If the battery tests say that it works  fine then you could simply perform a few steps here.

Please update the bios and chipset drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers

  • Please calibrate the battery. Please visit this link for further assistance:http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00259897
  • Please perform a hard reset. steps to do it:
  • Power down the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery only if it is a removable one.
  • Hold down the power button of the unit for 15 seconds to discharge static electrical charges inside the machine.
  • Replace the battery and reconnect the charger. Try to power on the computer.
  • Make sure you to uninstall the battery drivers from device manager and scan for hardware changes.
  • Please select a balanced battery power plan.
