Broken Hinge

HP Recommended
HP 15 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I did a search on this forum and came across the "broken hinge" posts. I have had my laptop for just under 2 years and like others noticed the hinge was a bit funny but put it down to being new and thought it would get easier with use. I am now at a point where the hinge hardly moves and seems to be pulling the screen away from the lid when opening/closing and now I can only do either by holding the hinge firmly in place and slowly closing. The screen colours change if the lid is moved even slightly. It seems that HP have known that this was an issue as I have discovered today that they did a recall in 2009 on the same problem but seems to have ignored that it is happenening again. I got the email warning for recall over power cables but nothing mentioned regarding faulty hinges. Can someone from HP contact me to tell me what they are going to do about this. Like everyone else my warranty ran out 8 months ago.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
