HP Recommended

I have a boxed new Proliant ML110 G6 Server, which I received in part payment for work I had done for a company. I took it as a spare because I already have the same machine in my office. Now I would like to use this machine in addition to the one I already have, but I think I should (if it's possible), upgrade the CPU. Performing the actual upgrade isn't a problem, because I've been a computer Engineer for a very long time, it's compatibility that concerns me.

My current Server has a Xeon X3430 CPU and it works very well. The new one has a G6950 CPU and I would rather ask here than have to strip down my current server and look!.

My question is : -

If I purchase a Xeon X3430 CPU, can I replace the G6950 with it - in other words are the sockets for both CPU's on the motherboard the same?

Please no warnings about voiding warranties and doing it myself etc. I do know what I'm doing and as both servers and CPU's are out of date and out of warranty it doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance
