Chromebook 14-x010nx No Power

HP Recommended

I have been searching all over the internet to find out hout to fix this issue.

First, I turned it off about a month ago. After a couple days, I went to turn it on. I got nothing. Nothing from display or lights. I figured the battery must be dead. I plugged in the charger. The charge indicator light did not come on. I waited about an hour and tried the laptop again. Still nothing. I followed various instructions found on the internet and on here pertaining to other similar models. Pressing and holding the power, refresh, esc keys. Opened it up and unplugged the battery. Did the holding of the power button for seven seconds. Nothing. Tried with just the charger connected without battery. Nothing.

After just letting it sit plugged in, for about fifteen minutes, I felt the copper heatsink over the processor. It was warm as though the laptop was running. But still nothing from display or lights. I purchased another charger. Figured maybe going bad. Didn't help. I then purchased a replacement DC adapter from the charger to the motherboard. Maybe that was bad. Still nothing. I'm stumped. Yes, replacement parts are genuine HP parts.

The only thing not replaced is the battery and the motherboard.

HP wants money to tell me what to do next. So I took a chance and replaced the motherboard. Found someone with a brand new one for $20. Booted right up working just fine.

Its a shame you can't find more "Item specific" information on the internet.
