Clean win10 install, which drivers to install

HP Envy 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear all,

I'm gonna add a Samsung EVO and make a clean Windows 10 64 install in this Envy 17. Apparently, this is my notebook:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-17-n100-Notebook-PC/8499288/model/8949605

First question is how do I get a list with my product specification? Could not find on the site. I can easily find them for my previos HP notebooks.

Second, in which order should I install the drivers I downloaded from HP site? Which of them need a reboot after install?

HP Notebook System BIOS Update _Intel Processors_sp75152.exe
HP Wireless Button Driver_sp74735.exe
Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver_sp72105.exe
Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework_sp72106.exe

Synaptics TouchPad Driver_sp74369.exe
Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver_sp74365.exe

Thank you.

Clean win10 install, which drivers to install

full_on

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about installing drivers and wanted to help.

My recommendation is to do the driver installs in this order:

1) Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver

2) Remainder of the Chipset drivers

3) Remaining drivers

But ... instead of going to all that trouble, since you are already running Win10, unless you hare having a problem with the drivers, why not just save off the current drivers and reinstall them?

I've used a product known as DriverBackup to do this successfully on my PCs: Download DriverBackup! - MajorGeeks

That way, you know you're going to get the same working drivers as are already installed.

Good Luck

Clean win10 install, which drivers to install

Dear WAWood, thank you for your kind answer and warm welcome.

However, my idea is to install the latest drivers, and not to install all drivers. As you can se in my original post, it is a long list of drivers, and I don't think I need all of them.

So my questions remain:

- how do I get a list with my product specification? Could not find on the site. I can easily find them for my previos HP notebooks.

- In which order should I install the drivers I downloaded from HP site? Which drivers need a reboot after install?

Thank you.

I know of no way to get a list of drivers other than to visit the HP Support Page for your PC and write down a list of what you find there, and even then, since some PCs come in different models, with different hardware, not all the drivers are going to apply to your model.

As to the order of installation, go back and read my initial reply -- as I already provided that information.

Good Luck
