Presario CQ42
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Compaq Presario CQ42 laptop webcam is not working in Windows 7 ultimate in spite of loading youcam. Kindly help.

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.

 

Possible reasons for the camera not to work are:

- camera driver is missing/corrupt/not loaded - happens most often

- camera is disabled in BIOS or via Windows - happens occasionally

- camera is corrupted (hardware device is corrupted) - happens very rarely

 

 

Could you confirm if the computer came preinstalled with Windows 7 (a.k.a OEM Windows) from HP - did it have Win 7 when you bought it ?

 

If it did not come with Windows preinstalled, did you download/install all the drivers from HP site ?

 

If you click on Start button > Control Panel > Device Manager, do you see any device listed as unknown with yellow exclamantion mark like this:

 

 

 

Did you ever enter in BIOS to stop the camera from there (if there is such an option)...
