Conexant APO Agent - what is it?

Hello,

Just bought a Spectre X360, upgraded to Win 10, and updated everything with HP Support Assistant.

There's something called "Conexant APO Agent", with filename "CXAPOAgent64.exe", in Start-up in Task Manager.

I gather this is something to do with the Realtek sound drivers. But despite all my googling, I cannot find anything that says what it actually does, and whether I can disable it.

Also if anyone knows what "Realtek Audio Manager" and "Realtek I2S Audio Background Proc" are doing, please let me know. In "Sound" on the control panel, the speakers appear to controlled by "Intel SST", so I suspect Realtek is some sort of relic I don't need.

No, no answers. Why would HP bundle software where no-one knows what it does? If it's important for the hardware to function properly, it should be part of the drivers.

I suppose you could disable it and see if you notice anything different; you can always re-enable it if there's a problem.

I disabled it. I have not noticed any differences since then 🤔

This might help, but an APO is an Audio Processing Object which is like an add-on to the audio system.

I have Conexant audio drivers in my laptop and have been trying to get an APO equalizer to work, which is what led me to this thread.

So, I suggest that maybe that exe that you found handles APO's for the Conexant audio driver.  Just speculation though.
