Crackling Hp laptop noise

HP 15-ay039wm Intel Core i3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I just bought a brandnew Hp 15 laptop core i3. Then when I booted it on and leave it for a few minutes, I started hearing this noise coming from the right side of the keyboard part of the laptop when you are facing in front of it. Is this normal? Or is there any software tweeks that could eliminate this noise?

Crackling Hp laptop noise

@nursejohn

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Notebook - 15-ay039wm and can hear some sound coming from the right side of the keyboard area. I'd like to assist you with this case.

I understand that this is a new laptop and no changes may have taken place. Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please check of the laptop is overheating.
  • Does it sound like a loud fan noise which is inside the laptop?
  • Please review the steps mentioned under "Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes" from this link: http://hp.care/2k55Z9h

Hope this information helps. Let me know. All the best! :)

Overheating? I guess not the case, I started hearibg the noise just a few minutes when I turned it on.. I think its not a fan. I mean its like a sound of a grounded electricity. Sometimes its loud and then there are times its not that noisy buy still I can hear the noise.

Crackling Hp laptop noise

Hi @nursejohn,

I reviewed the post comprehensively and I would like to assist you with this. Superb diagnosis of the issue before posting it.

For better clarity, I would require more information regarding this to assist you better.

  • Does it come from the speakers by any chance?
  • Have you checked with headsets by playing some tracks to see if the headset crackles?
  • Have you checked with speakers s by playing some tracks to see if the headset crackles?
  • Please let me know the complete model# of the unit.

For now please run complete system diagnostics  on the machine from this link:

http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259

It takes about 2 hours to run. Please look for a failure code for failed components. If it fails please make a note of the failure code and contact HP phone support tog et the unit serviced.

If the noise is annoying you could still contact HP phone support to get the unit serviced by following these steps.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the purchase is directly from HP, then you get a 30-day return window to return the product also. You could go that route as well.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. :)  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. :)

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. :)

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. :)
