Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a new laptop few months ago. When i opened the DVD/CD Lightscribe tray, it wouldn't play. The original box has it listed as built in. Of course HP support was no help. Said it wasn't a hardware issue but MIcrosofts. Who built the laptop? So i sit here with a laptop that is still being advertised as having this feature. Can someone here please help? This is my first laptop and doesn't help not being computer savvy and near retirement. Thank you to whoever can help!

Greetings @JZ55,

Thanks for the post and Welcome to HP Forums.

I understand that your computer is not reading any DVD, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Lightscribe is on longer included with any of our computers. May I know the product number of your computer? Click here for assistance. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.

May I know the troubleshooting steps tried by you?

Please refer to this HP Article for assistance in troubleshooting issue with the computer not reading optical disc.

Let me know if this helped.
