I'm hoping for some advice. I'm trying to reformat my Pavilion DV6205us back to factory condition. A while back I made the recovery DVDs. The DVDs claimed to have been made without error and the discs are clean and scratch free. When I try to use the recovery process I get an "Error 1005". I've tried this twice. The second time, rather than saying "OK" when the error came up, I selected "Canel". At that point I was asked for the second recovery disc. I inserted the second disc but after about 10 minutes I didn't see any progress and gave up. Save for added memory to the computer it is unmodified. I have not changed the hard drive.
So here are my questions:
1. Is this something I can get around?
2. Can I do a manual OS reinstall? My previous HP/Compaq as well as my Dell came with discs that let me choose between either a clean reinstall or reinstall windows without wiping out the harddrive. In this case I would prefer the wipe the hard drive option as it's easier. However, I can manual clean the harddrive if needbe.
The backup discs I made don't appear to be damaged in any way. I would have made a second copy but I don't think HP's software allowed me to make two copies. What can I do if my discs are defective?

Before using the Recovery Disc, make sure the HDD is good. The Hard Disc Driver Test can performed either through [F2] Screen : Start up Diagnostics or through [F10] : Diagnostics <Tab>. The [F2] / [F10] should held while turning on the Computer to get to the respective windows. In most case, the reason for this error: 1005 is the Hard Driver failure

I have also G60t-200 laptop. I experienced the same Errror: 1005, while i was trying for system recovery using HP System Recovery DVD. The recovery process ran upto 28% and then it stopped with this error and it said that, " If this error continues then contact Hp support".
Please anybody can help us out.
