Hello patients,

You’re not able to adjust the brightness on your laptop.

Do any of the other keys work?

Here is a link to reinstall the quick launch buttons.

Also here is a link to update the BIOS. This will help with the function of the keys.

When the updates have finished, do a hard reset.

Power off the computer.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.

This should reset the hardware in the computer.

As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.

Go over to system configuration and make sure that action keys are enabled.

Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

Hello Miqyu,

I understand you’re stating your brightness keys aren’t functioning, is that correct? I will be happy to help you.

Can you please provide the full make and model of the computer you are using, HP manufactured a ton of G6 notebooks and I want to make sure we have the right one. If you are unsure where to locate that information click on this link for help.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

Thank you, that worked for me, it was driving me crazy.  I had upgraded to Win 10 and all was good for a few days then the monitor went dim and I couldn't get a good answer as to what I needed to do.

Thanks !

I cannot believe that this actually worked! I am not sure for how long it will work but at least now it seems fine. And trust me I have searched on google and read every single page about this issue. However nothing has worked. I was about to give up as I have waisted hours to sort this out.

So thank you!!
