I have recently freed up a bunch of space on my computer.  Today my computer is coming up with an error message, when I try and access File Explorer, saying "Windows annot find 'C:\Users\HP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group2\3 - Windows Explorer. Ink'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

It has been fine for the last few days since I deleted some files but now this comes up.  I have looked and I can't find a folder called APP Data, so unless it got deleted accidently?  Is there anyway to reverse this.  I won't be able to recover it as I emptied the Recycling bin.

Hello @miller9876

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting!

You cannot find AppData because it is a hidden folder by default. You need to enable the view of hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer to be able to read/see the files inside this folder. Be careful when touching there as you may render some application non-functional.

The shortcut that you have for File Explorer is not working as it tries to open a file/link which does not exist ('C:\Users\HP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group2\3 - Windows Explorer. Ink)

The message you get is normal considering the facts.

In order to repair it - you need to delete the existing shortcut (e.g. right click the icon you use to access explorer) and try to delete it.

Follow these instructions to restore back the normal file explorer >> https://www.isunshare.com/windows-8/get-file-explorer-icon-back-on-taskbar.html

You may also try additional 3rd party file explorer (old fashioned classic style) >> Total Commander (free) >> https://www.ghisler.com/download.htm

Hope this helps.
