HDD Self test read failure

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH!

Hi! I have a hp compaq presario 2800 notebook, with windows xp operating system. After windows loaded, a few seconds(5-10-15sec) and my computer shut down. But when it is in the bios, this is not shut down. I want to do a hdd self test from the bios and this is write read failure. I tried to boot it from a linux live cd, but this is dont work. Booted, but when i open the try it from the live cd, it just do nothing.

Hi FarkasTamas,

Your results are quite interesting. The hard disk test indicates a hard disk failure which will require a  hard drive replacement.

I highly recommend that you try  Ubuntu Linux live from a USB thumbdrive to verify that there are no other issues present with your notebook's hardware before replacing the hard disk.

If you really want to say thanks, click on the Thumbs up icon .
