Pavilion p045tx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I had Windows 10 installed and running fine. Yesterday, i restarted the notebook and i got a black screen before the boot. The boot logo didn't even show up. After  a few hours, I got it working and it booted normally but the HP boot logo was stretched vertically and the resolution of BIOS screen wasn't fine. Everthing in Windows was fine though. I updated the BIOS but the logo got screwed even more. I tried downgrading to Windows 8.1 but it didn't do any good. I tried installing some older versions of BIOS but it didn't work too.

This is how the boot logo shows up

This is the BIOS screen. See the resolution.

I've tried the Quick diagnostic tests and everthing seems fine. Windows is fine. Windows resolution is perfect and there are no problems with the graphics.

Hi @AntiSaby,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-p045tx Notebook and issues with the BIOS or start screen. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. That way it will look at the Hardware installed on the Notebook.

Please let me know how this goes.

Thanks.

Thank you for replying. Reseting the BIOS settings to default was the first thing i did. It didn't do any good though. I've tried installing older versions of BIOS too but It's still the same.

Hey @AntiSaby,

Here is a link from Microsoft that shows you how to change the Splash screen.

If that does not help you might want to consider a Refresh.

Thanks.
