Hi All
I have a HP Compaq 6005 Pro SFF PC that was in a classroom and a student has password protected the BIOS unfortunately we dont know who or when I need to be able to access the boot order on this machine to reimage the drive for new windows 7 rollout..
Machine is only 3 mths old and if I can't get into it, it will be binned as of no use in its current state..
Is there a tool or technique for reseting the bios password. Removing battery did not resolve this one!!

I have 3 HP laptops 6730b's which former staff have returned with BIOS password on them I need to be able to reset these I have googled for resolution and the answer appears to be replace the mainboard, that's not really an option due to prohibitive costs.
Is there a recovery tool or some tip or trick to do this??

Hi:
On the 6005 Pro there is a password jumper on the motherboard to remove to reset the password.
Please refer to the troubleshooting guide at the link below and see Appendix B, Page 56.

For the laptops, there is nothing you can do.

Hi Paul
I have followed the steps outlines in the pdf you refered to and have had no success, it appears as though the student may have saved his configuration over the factory default as I see there is an option to replace the factory default..
Is there any other way to get this machine back to Out of the Box??

No, unfortunately there isn't.
You will need a new motherboard.
The clever student set the stringent security option when he/she set the password, which bypasses any attempt to clear the password via the jumper method.
