HP ELITE 1012 x2 - Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework : ESIF(8.1.10604.207) TYPE: ERROR

Elite 1012 X2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good Afternoon,

I have recently rolled out around 80+ HP Elite 1012 x2 to our organisation and much to my disappointment there seems to be an issue with all of our devices.

It appears as if every device is having shutdown issues and coming up with the below error in the event log:

Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework : ESIF(8.1.10604.207) TYPE: ERROR

DPTF Build Version: 8.1.10604.207

Initally we assumed this was down to overheating but after running Realtemp and monitoring i'm not so sure..

There is however some design flaws, the keyboard case acts and an insulator if stored keyboard up on a desk so i've had to send out an email advising everyone to store it keyboard side down.

The HP Elite 1012 x2 protection case also doesn't seem to dissipate heat as well as its should .

There is a common pattern with random shutdowns/crashes and the above error, i don't think i've seen one device which hasn't had this.

We've also seen issues with the USB Type C port/Drivers where it will only recognise the docking units as charging devices, this is resovled by hardbooting the device however i don't believe this is a proper fix.

Please advise how to proceed/resolve as i'd like to not have to replace all these devices.

Kind Regards,

Matthew
