My laptop has been working fine since purchase, however last week I noticed that the F9 F10 & F10 action keys (skip, play/pause, skip) were not working for their function. Before last week I had been able to just press the key for it to activate, Ihave read other posts of this forum and the answers have not work i.e. pressing fn+alt+(action key) or pressing fn+action key. To make it work I have to access the bios screen and change the values to default, but this only works while the laptop is on. If I turn the laptop off and back on again it just resorts back to not working. All the other action keys work e.g. keyboard back light, volume, brightness etc.
Any solutions would be welcome.
Thanks.

Hello @Spudy96,
Thank you for your quick reply!
You can try performing a System Restore. If that doesnt work, then you could also try installing the previous version of the BIOS from your Support Site. Let me know how it goes.
Best of Luck!

Hello @Spudy96,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I read your post about the Action Keys, and wanted to assist you!
I understand that you set the values to defeat in BIOS. Did you try to Enable/Disable the Action Keys through the BIOS? Afterwards, you should be able to save your settings with F10, and restart the computer. Please try reviewing the following document:

Thanks for your reply.
I tried your solution of enable/disableing the action keys but this only worked for the time the laptop was on. As soon as I restart or turn off the laptop it just goes back to its old ways. I have found out that this started happening after I had a "HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)". This had a SoftPaq number of SP71205 and was version F.19Ap1 and was installed on the 27th June. I don't know if this has anything to do with the issue.

Hi again...
Reinstalling BIOS to solve the Action Keys issue only worked until yesterday when I notices that the actions keys (specifically the the skip, play/puase buttons) were not working again and now the only way to get them to work is to press the Fn + ALT + Action Key (on iTunes to be specific), I was just wondering if there is any way of disabling it and only needing to press the F Key associated with the action.
Thanks again.
