HP Envy 17t-3200 Battery 657503-001 No Longer Available

They won't sell you a battery, since it's located on the inside and it would require you to disassemble to laptop to replace it. When I called about this, they told me the only way to replace the battery was to ship my laptop to them so they could install the new one.

After having my laptop for a week, I received a call saying the battery was not in stock and it would take weeks for it to arrive. My options were to wait, or for HP to replace my laptop with a new one with comparable specs. I went for the new one, even if it's not as powerful as the original, if only to avoid going through the whole battery ordeal again.

HP Envy 17t-3200 Battery 657503-001 No Longer Available

UPDATE!  That laptop is now DEAD! The power cord (which wasn't recalled) blew up my battery, so the whole laptop swelled and caused all sorts of odd issues; not to mention I can't open the back to get the old battery out to just run on older HP power cord...

I have purchased ASUS laptops for both "kids" and will NEVER by another HP laptop again!!!

So far, the printers still seem to be the best, and mine is still plugging along, despite loosing wifi- it's now ethernet, but I think that's due to a storm.

Like others, HP site told me to purchase wrong battery after logging my s/n, and am glad I did it on Amazon...  HP support is AWFUL. You have lost another previously loyal, long term customer. I am just glad I made regular, full back-ups.

brunjest, this laptop battery is physically a different shape than any of the other ENVY laptops. Nothing will go into the slot where the old battery comes out. HP just wants us to purchase another $1000+ after the 2 years it takes for the battery to die. Not me...

In another thread, an HP representative states that 593562-001, SPS-BATT 6C 62WHr 2.8Ah LI MU06062 or 636631-001, SPS-BATT 9C 100WHr 3.0Ah LI MU09100-CL. is a compatible battery. That can be verified by using the HP PartSurfer to see if this  indeed  supercedes the original battery part number.

The price of that battery varies,  is generally reasonably  and considerably less than $100.00

https://www.google.nl/search?q=593562-001&oq=593562-001&aqs=chrome..69i57.1023j0j4&sourceid=chrome&i...

The thread I referred to is below.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Battery-Replacement-657503-001/...

It has been reported to be a battery for another notebook.

Yeah, I saw that one, too, before i purchased from Amazon. It's the wrong shape! That battery is meant for the 15.6" laptops and the 2000 series 17.3" Envy's. it WILL NOT fit the 3200 series Envy! HP truly DID NOT make a replacement battery for the 3200 series Envy. I have spoken with several support folks in the last 5 months, trust me.

Sorry, y'all, I'm outta here.

Ok. That is good info.

Has anyone used HP's PartSurfer  to see if there is a new part that supereceded the originall battery part number?

HP Envy 17t-3200 Battery 657503-001 No Longer Available

Since HP is threatening to charge me for calling them, my only option is to bump this thread. Has anyone found a solution of any kind to this problem?

If shipping the device to HP is an option, how does that work? Is the same device returned to you with a new battery? How much does it cost?

Aftermarket battery recommendations are welcome as well. Thanks.
