I have the same problem as many others on the forum-the left side hinge broke in normal usage. The laptop is out of warranty by 8 months. I called HP support and was informed there is no recall. This is my wife's latpop that she uses for many hours each day.
Is there any assistance available from HP? I am sure this is a manufacturing defect.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details)..
