HP Pavilion 15 Notebook Failure

Pavilion 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi,

purchased the stated item no less than 18 months ago and today, whilst writing a job application and without any forewarning, the system started making a clunking sound and switched off.

tried to turn on and went into automatic repair mode. Tried to do a system recovery, unable as it says the device needs repairing. Any ideas?

HP website is also unable to tell me my warranty status.

help appreciated. Laptop is of great need right now!

Sounds like the hard drive has died. That is not a manufacturing defect. It has been in your possession and under your control for a year and a half. Hard drive replacement is not too expensive but we will need the exact model number to help with instructions. Post back if interested in help.

Oh, boy. Well this is not really a technophobe job. See page 69 of the Service manual here. Lots of screws, lots of disassembly.

Manual

A hard drive is not too expensive and we can walk you through the software reinstall, but you have to find someone who can follow the Manual and do the physical replacement. We can probably find a Youtube if that makes it easier.
