Finally figured out how to turn off number lock on my HP laptop that has a key board with NO number lock key.
The track is to open up your on-screen keyboard. Don't worry; all computers have this AND it does NOT require using keys that may be temporarily messed up typing numbers rather than letters.
There are different ways to access your on-screen keyboard. Google will tell you how depending on what computer you have. Don't worry; google will correctly guess what you're typing even when the letters come out wrong 'cz of number lock.
One way is to click the Start button, then click All Progrms, then click "Accessories then click "Ease of Access" then click "On-Screen Keyboard"". In all cases, the bottom line is you want to find your way to "Ease of Access" and then "On Screen Keyboard."
When your onscreen keyboard appears on your screen you'll notice the "nlk" (number lock) key is highlighted. Click this key to unhighlight it and voila - the number lock is turned off on your regular keyboard as well.
