HP Pavilion dv7 shuts off after 1-2 minutes when power removed. Battery has been replaced

Hi. My laptop runs fine until I remove the power. It continues to run for about 1-2 minutes then turns off without any notifications. I have replaced the battery but no change.  Im thinking the motherboard has a failure. I love this laptop but will have to throw it away unless this can easily be resolved. Thanks in advance
