HP Pavillion dv9000 - XP doesn't see the HDD, how to install?

HP Recommended

Hi,

I'm trying to install XP SP3 on HP Pavillion dv9000, but XP installer doesn't see the hard disk.

Can you please point me to the right direction - what files do I need, and how to add them to the XP SP3 installation CD ?

I guess there is a detailed step-by-step guide somewhere.

thanks

Enter Bios setup by tapping F10 key at startup.If you have the option in Bios setup to disable Native sata mode,XP will install with no problem,no sata driver needed.It will be on System Configuration tab.

If you don't have the setting in Bios,this is the sata driver for your machine:

Download and run it,make a floppy OR cancel floppy creation.The files will be extracted to C:\Swsetup\sp37005 to use with Nlite.

You can use Nlite to integrate the drivers into a new XP install cd.Nlite will even burn the new XP cd.

Nlite download:

If you need more help with XP  drivers for audio,video,etc check for complete model number on the Service Tag as shown in section 1 below,and post it.P/N in section 2 also will help.

Thank you very much CherylG !

I included the driver in XP install CD, then all went OK.

XP drivers from V6700TX will work for your model. Install Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8 first and reboot before other drivers.

(see below also before continuing with other drivers):

You have either Mobile Intel 965 Graphics or,Nvidia Graphics:

Some of the drivers above require .Net and Windows Installer 3.1 first.

.Net Framework(before Quick Launch):

Windows Installer 3.1(before Intel wireless):

You may have Broadcom instead of Intel Wireless.
