HP Spectre x360 convertible black screen loud alarm

HP Spectre x360 13 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Doing: entering text in a LibreOffice document, running Firefox, and LilyPond software.

Recreate: Have not tried to recreate, seems to be random (it's happened once before).

Error messages: none, black screen, after a few seconds loud alarm.

No recent software/driver changes.

Internet connection: DSL.

Computer purchased on June 8, 2016.

This is the second time this occurred. The first time, after a few seconds of the black screen, the computer rebooted and seemed to function normally. I went to troubleshooting but did not find any further information about what happened.

I have been experiencing regular display drive issues - the screen goes black and then returns with the display driver message (twice).
