HP Update Problems

I've been having problems with HP Update--every time it ran, I'd get a message saying "iPAQDetection2.exe: This application has failed to start because CEUTIL.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the software may fix the problem."

I finally figured out that the problem goes away if I use HP Update version  It comes back every time I try to update to HP Update version

Re: HP Update Problems

Hello jswafa,

Have you tried manually downloading the HP UPDATE and right click on the SP40845.exe file and Run it as Administrator ..

Also, try downloading the HP Active Support Library (SP34016), right click and Run it as Administrator

there may also be some other things you may need

Re: HP Update Problems

Hi CorMit - Thanks for the suggestions!  I wasn't really asking for help with my problem--I was offering a solution for others who have had trouble with HP Update.  I have a Pavillion dv9000 with Vista Ultimate (64-bit), and I'd been having a long-running problem with HP update until I discovered this work-around.  Yes, I tried installing sp40845 manually, and it gives me the problem I noted.  Uninstalling that and reinstalling sp34794 makes the problem go away, and HP Update works fine (except for constantly notifying me of the available update to HP Update!).
