As many of you may notice, this is a brand new forum. HP has decided to abandon it's old forum, and migrate to some next generation technology, which is very welcome.
If you're having trouble with any of the laptop models listed above, such as the following:
- Overheating
- "Artifacts" on the screen (random colored characters appearing and disappearing, or horizontal/vertical "lines"
- Driver errors resulting in a blue screen and a nv******.sys file error
- Random resets resulting in your laptop booting into "Safe Mode"
- Total display failure, or only the VGA/HDMI output working
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
The thread below was our old home, and has a wealth of info on some tips and tricks other users employed to gain some functionality back from their laptop, and a number of great links to sites that can help you, including HP's One Time Warranty Enhancement Program (some AMD-powered notebooks are covered BEYOND their warranty, not many though.)
Old Forum:
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1274587
Warranty Enhancement (including Models covered):
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01087277
Check that out, and if that doesn't help, post here with your story. There are literally thousands dealing with this, and we're a great source of advice and help.
I will be updating this post with new, helpful links as I get them, so bookmark this thread if you'd like.
One last thing... as far as I know the above info pertains to North American models only. HP UK, HP Europe, and HP Asia have launched thier own independant initiatives to combat these issues. We all appreciate your stories and the ends you've gone through to discover this thread, but I can not promise any of our advice or solutions will apply to you. As always, if you need any help, just post away and we'll all do our collective best to help!
One last, last thing... this is NOT a flame, spam, hate, or otherwise nasty thread. We're all frustrated, we've all been to hell and back trying to deal with these problems... but save your rants for another thread (which you are more than welcome to post elsewhere). This is dedicated to identifying problems, and creating solutions. We're here to help each other, not attack HP, NVidia, or any other company who is probably doing their best to help their customers AND mind their bottom line at the same time. End politically correct rant. 🙂
Good luck!
Lance

Thanks Iswaidz.
Did you edit your post or did the moderator?
I found this "new" forum from your last post on the Business Support Forums.

Yes, this forum is better. The other Business Forum was slow to load and the formatting was terrible.
Thanks for starting a new thread and people should archive the old thread so that valuable information and links are not lost.

I'm glad I hear you found a temporary replacement. Remember, this thread is about identifying problems and finding solutions, so keep it clean and informative. If we stick to our guns here we will all be able to help each other out in the long run!
