Hard Drive Failure and Recovery?

Pavilion G7
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Unfortunately like many other posts I have seen, my laptop has been operating extremely slow. It recently will not boot.

Hard drive DST test code 6c54xs-5kp85p-xd014j-60ul03.

Is there any way to recovery data from drive? We have a backup but it is a little dated.

Thanks for the input.

Hard Drive Failure and Recovery?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about needing to recover data from your hard drive and wanted to help.

As long as the drive spins up, there is always a chance of recovering some of the data.

What you will need to do is the following:

1) Remove the drive from the laptop

2) Connect the drive to a working PC using a USB-to-HDD adapter

3) Install data recovery software on the working PC

4) Run that software to retrieve files and folders from the drive.

In terms of data recovery software, here is a free one: Recover Data in 3 Steps With MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition - MajorGeeks

If that doesn't find what you need, this is a better app but it is only free to try out: Active@ File Recovery searches for lost & deleted files, recovers damaged volumes, disks & RAIDs

Good Luck
