How do you tell if an HP Laptop can have 2 harddrives

HP Recommended

I have a question. I bought an HP Pavilion g7 and it does not have a 2nd bay for another harddrive. Every Pavilion I have bought has always had a 2 bays so it didn't even occur to me that this one would not. I was shocked when I went to install a 2nd harddrive and there was no where to put it. I'm look at getting another HP Pavilion and selling this one because it is past the return date.

As I am looking at the specs on other Pavilions I can see if they have a second bay or not. I was looking specifically at the I am looking at the HP Pavilion m7-1015dx.

Does anyone know where this information would be located?

Hi:

It is very odd that when you click on the manuals link for that model, the dv7 service manual comes up.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=5273910&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&task=&lang=en&cc=us

The dv7 models have 2 hard drive bays.

I am pretty sure the m7 is the next generation dv7, but I cannot confirm anywhere that specifically states the m7 comes with the capability to have two hard drives.

So, unless someone on the forum has an m7 and can positively say yea or nay, I don't think anyone is going to have an answer for you.

Paul

Here are g7 specs as appear to a prospecitve buyer on the shopping site:

http://shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Laptops/HP-Pavilion/B7M25AV?HP-Pavilion-g7z-2100...

Here are specs for a dv7:

http://shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Laptops/HP-Pavilion/C0L19AV?HP-Pavilion-dv7t-700...

The DV7 specifcally mentions "dual hard drive" as an option and the g7 does not.

This individual thinks the m7 does not have 2 hard drives:

But yes if you try to find the manual for the m7 the dv7 manual comes up.  Very odd.

I just got a M7-1015DX and it does have a second hard drive bay.  It has the connector for the second drive, but it is missing the cable to attach it to the board.
