How to install window 7(32 bit OS) in HP pavellian series 64 bit processoor system

I just checked and your PC model does support Windows 7.

You can get its drivers eventually from >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6529948/model/6622...

Suggested actions:

1. Shrink the main Windows partition some size, so that you get about 100 GB free size (this is just an example and depends on what size you need). This can be done inside Windows 8 from Disk Management utility.

Here is how >> http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/resize-a-partition-for-free-in-windows-vista/

2. Make sure your Windows 7 installation media and licence are ready. If you do not have them, you can download ISO images from Microsoft web site >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

Once you have the ISO image:

## How to create bootable ISO on USB device >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

or

## How to write ISO to DVD >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-windows

3. When ready with the USB drive or with the Win 7 DVD:

You should boot in BIOS/UEFI

* Ensure Secure Boot is disabled.

* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled.

* Save the UEFI/BIOS changes.

Details>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226

4.Please, shutdown the computer using the power button.

Insert the Windows USB thumdrive or the DVD prepared previously

Power  on the PC.

As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the thumb drive as boot option.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 7

Install drivers taken from HP web site >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6529948/model/6622...

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. Smiley Happy

Hi @sks9988

I regret to inform you that the message you are experiencing is correct. My mistake - I forgot we talk about 32bit edition of Win 7.

Windows 7 does not inherently have the ability to install into a GPT disk from the base installation.  The Windows 7 DVD is designed to install using BIOS/Legacy mode.

Also note that Windows 7 x86 does not support UEFI mode.

You can format the whole HDD and then install the OS in MBR partition table in Legacy mode but in this case you can loose the existing Windows 8 installation. Note for future reference that it is always best practice to install the oldest operating system first when you are creating a dual booting system (e.g.  W7 first, then W8 second...)

May I suggest a workaround - I am not sure what your software you need is but:

- try to use/create Virtual Machine - run Windows 7 inside Windows 8

Info : what are virtual machines and how to

Download free Oracle Virtual Box and install it https://www.virtualbox.org/ , http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.1.6/VirtualBox-5.1.6-110634-Win.exe

Run it and setup a W 7 32-bit virtual machine for Windows 7

Does this work for your case scenario ?

With the free VirtualBox software is it possible to setup demo environments very simple and fast. This video show the installation process of VirtualBox and then installation of Windows 7 x64 SP1 as a Virtual Machine. The installation is run on the following hardware AsRock Z68 Pro3-M motherboard

OK,

Once you begin the installation of Win 7, you need to format the HDD and then install on unallocated space.

Eventually, you need to download the drivers from HP site and install them manually on this PC.

You may have to download them prior to Win 7 installation and you may need to transfer some of them to the affected PC on a USB thumbdrive.

Re. the "Recovery" partition - yes, it is part of the recovery process.

In order to save it, you need to follow these instructions:

An alternative option which includes copy of all your existing files/programs/drivers/documents ... etc.... exactly copy ("mirror"" of the existing one is a System Image >>http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03544793

It is highly recommended that you create either of them to save your existing situation should you decide to go back.

If you do not create such and you have to go back some day, you will then need to pay for recovery media to purchase from HP or some 3rd party.

How to install the back up:

- If HP Recovery media (DVDs or USB thumbdrive) >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC3sUc3lr3E

- If Windows system image >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01900516

In this case you will keep your data at one place but you need to also create a Windows Recovery media - this can be 1 single CD/DVD or 1 single USB drive. You will need to boot from this drive and follow the on-screen instructions

You definitely want to make back-ups now. This will be the easiest, the fastest and the cheapest recovery method to use if you decide to go back. If you do not have HP recovery media, you may have to purchase one eventually (cost is about 25-27 $). The recovery medial will restore your PC OS to factory default condition. I recommend you make HP recovery media and also a MS Windows system image.

Hope this helps!
